MORE ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Professor Mike Savage will talk about how he used qualitative interviews sampled from the UK’s National Child Development Survey to unpack how the experiences of precarity were understood and interpreted by those who the NCDS panel survey revealed to be in the most disadvantaged positions. Mike will bring out the agency and individual resilience of these respondents to show how their capacity to ‘own’ their lives generated a political world view which was distanced from formal politics and embraces motifs around individuality and self-reliance.
