ARUA Secretary-General receives honorary doctorate degree from Stellenbosch University
Professor Ernest Aryeetey, ARUA Secretary-General has received an honorary doctorate degree from Stellenbosch University.
Following an earlier announcement by Stellenbosch University (SU) in November, to confer awards on five distinguished individuals in the 2022 graduation cycle, ARUA Secretary-General, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey has received the degree of Doctor of Commerce (DCom), honoris causa at a ceremony held at Stellenbosch University on 8th December 2022. In thanking Stellenbosch for this honour, he said: I’m very much touched by the gesture and I’m very happy for the recognition of the work that we are all doing together in this region. I believe the importance of it will resonate around the region.” Referring to ARUA where he is the foundation Secretary-General, Prof. Aryeetey said: “We strongly believe that in order to attain the SDGs, Africa needs to change the way it manages its economies. The only way you can do this change is by building the knowledge systems you require for that, and also using these more effectively.”
We congratulate Prof. Ernest Aryeetey on this sterling accomplishment which is another feather in his cap.
