Awards & Accolades

ARUA Secretary-General Professor Ernest Aryeetey this weekend was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Science degree by the University of Health and Allied Sciences for his “immense contribution to education, research and institutional development.”  The conferment took place during the University’s Congregation ceremony.

Professor Ernest Aryeetey, ARUA Secretary-General, has received an honorary degree from the University of Ghana.

Dr. Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, Head of Centre for ARUA’s Centre of Excellence for Food Security, University of Pretoria, has been announced as the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research’s (CGIAR) next System Board Chair.  She will succeed Marco Ferroni who is stepping down and retiring at the end of December 2022.  Her appointment takes effect in January 2023.

Stellenbosch University (SU) has announced awards to be conferred on five distinguished individuals in the 2022 graduation cycle.  The award is the highest accolade of SU.  Among the five recipients is Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, the founding secretary-general of the African Research Universities Alliance.  (ARUA)
