The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) convened a well-attended Information Webinar on the Early-Career Research (ECR) Fellowships, bringing together early-career researchers and research professionals from across Africa and beyond.

ARUA will host an Information Webinar, which is aimed at equipping prospective applicants with the knowledge and guidance needed to prepare competitive and successful applications for the 2026/2027 intake. The Webinar will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Over 50 institutional research officers from all 23 ARUA member universities converged in Nairobi, Kenya for the fourth Capacity Building Workshop, which was hosted by the University of Nairobi. The two-day workshop, which took place on June 24-25, 2024, formed part of activities planned under Phase 3 of the ARUA-Carnegie Data-Gathering & Benchmarking Project to allow for peer learning and the establishment of best practices for institutional research at ARUA universities.

African Presences: Envisioning Africa in Text and Deed

Over 50 participants made up of Deans of Graduate Schools, Science, and Humanities from the 16 member universities of ARUA have met in Kigali, Rwanda to consider the revised PhD Review Report which was put together by HSRC. 

Over 40 representatives from member universities of ARUA have participated in a 3-Day Capacity Building Workshop for Institutional Planning & Research Managers in Accra, as part of Phase 2 of a Carnegie Corporation of New York sponsored Benchmarking & Data-gathering project.

The last three days of February 2018 saw a fascinating meeting unfolding at the Elilly Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The hotel was the venue of a meeting of representatives of 13 of the 16 ARUA universities.
