The University of Ghana, the premier university in Ghana, was founded as the University College of the Gold Coast by Ordinance on August 11, 1948 for the purpose of providing and promoting university education, learning and research.
University of Ghana is administered through a collegiate system comprising the following colleges, College of Basic and Applied Sciences, College of Education, College of Health Sciences and College of Humanities. It also has a central administration that includes a School of Graduate Studies and an Office of International Programmes. As part of its vision to achieve global impact through innovative research, teaching and learning, using a technology-driven and people-centred approach, the University of Ghana has identified the following five priority areas by which it promotes international collaboration in research initiatives to enhance research output: Transformative Student Experience, Impactful Research, Commitment to our Faculty and Staff, Engagement and Partnerships, Sustainable Resource Mobilization and Stewardship.
