ARUA and Mastercard Foundation have held a meeting in Accra with a focus on principles underlying equitable research partnerships between global north and global south institutions. This took place on 9th August 2022 at University of Ghana.

ARUA Board Chair, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe has been re-appointed for a second five-year term as Vice Chancellor of Makerere University. The appointment which takes immediate effect was announced by the University Secretary, Yusuf Kiranda.
The Vice Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, Professor Wim de Villiers, has indicated that his University has had excellent bilateral relations for many years with several European universities, including those in the Guild of European Research-intensive Universities (The Guild).

The Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Town, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, has disclosed that the ARUA Strategic Plan launched last May was consistent with the plans her University has made for the next phase of its development.
The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is considering measures to strengthen its approach to international graduate training. The move will be designed to enhance the international student experience, among other considerations. This came out during a meeting between some members of the senior management of UKZN and the Secretary-General of ARUA, Professor Ernest Aryeetey on Monday, 1st August 2022.
