A colourful opening ceremony of the Fourth ARUA 2023 Biennial International Conference took place this morning at the Tayo Aderinokun Theatre at the University of Lagos.

The ARUA Board on the second day of its meeting elected Professor Sizwe Mabizela as in-coming Chairman of the ARUA Board. Prof. Mabizela, Vice-Chancellor of Rhodes University is currently the Vice Chair of the ARUA Board.
The ARUA Board meeting at the University of Lagos today, 14th November 2023, approved the appointment of Professor John Owusu Gyapong as the new Secretary-General. A former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Ghana, Professor Gyapong will take over from Professor Ernest Aryeetey when he retires at the end of July 2024.

Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) in Mozambique has been admitted as an associate member of ARUA. The decision was taken at the recent meeting of the ARUA Executive Committee which took place in Accra.
At its recent meeting held in Accra, the ARUA Executive Committee admitted Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to full membership of ARUA.
