ARUA plans to revolutionise doctoral training in Africa

The African Research Universities Alliance, or ARUA, indicated in its strategic plan (2022-27) its intention to assist member universities to produce 1,000 PhD graduates annually by the end of the plan period, up from the average of 200 that the universities have been doing.

Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique becomes 20th Full Member of ARUA

The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) is proud to announce the admission of Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique (UM6P) of Morocco as its newest full member. UM6P’s inclusion marks a significant milestone, as it becomes the 20th full member of the Alliance and the first from Northern Africa, bringing the total number of member universities to 23.

Fourth ARUA 2023 Biennial International Conference Opens

A colourful opening ceremony of the Fourth ARUA 2023 Biennial International Conference took place this morning at the Tayo Aderinokun Theatre at the University of Lagos. 

The Conference brings together about 300 participants who are experts from universities, research institutions, government, industry, civil society organisations and stakeholders of ARUA. The theme for the Conference is:  Reimagining the Future of Higher Education in Africa.  University of Lagos is hosting the International Conference.

JOHN OWUSU GYAPONG IS THE NEXT ARUA SECRETARY-GENERAL

The ARUA Board meeting at the University of Lagos today, 14th November 2023, approved the appointment of Professor John Owusu Gyapong as the new Secretary-General.  A former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Ghana, Professor Gyapong will take over from Professor Ernest Aryeetey when he retires at the end of July 2024.
